Peace Makers (necklace)
Empty bullet cases, sterling silver, bronze, laminates and KUMIHIMO braid
Peter Deckers has made a necklace that alludes to both protection and offering, past misdemeanors and future hope. Peace Makers, with its cluster of empty bullet cases and coloured interiors in the place of deadly fire, suggests that what once may have destroyed in the name of ‘peace’ can now stand as an evocative symbol. The kumihimo braids add a further dimension as they were once used for Japanese armour to fend off arrows.

In general my work scans ideas around the use and misuse of “value” in particular how it is moderated and manipulated (/corrupted). My work uses a mixture of non valuable and valuable materials in order to reformulate new value impressions.
