Little shop (of horrors) — A parent's living nightmare

Recently the New World supermarket chain offered a Little shop miniature – one of 44 different toy-sized supermarket items - for each $40 you spent at the checkout. Cute? Collectible? Yes and yes, but I couldn’t help wondering about the brand associations being built in children’s memories, as my 7 year old danced gleefully around the lounge room with the full sized packet and the mini version of a weet-bix product, shouting “Look what we’ve got, I’m always going to eat these ones!” I marvelled at how clever my child was – he seemed to have got straight to the heart of the issue.
