Re-purposed piano and fridge parts, paper bag, pins, chain and sunflower seeds

We live in a consumer society; if something no longer quite works or lives up to our expectations it can easily be replaced. I have an intrinsic interest in the broken and parted, with a desire to pick up the pieces and make a new whole.

In this case, the parts of a defunct piano provide inspiration. Their silence reverberates in my hands and mind. How many hands have touched and played these keys, how many stories have been played out? By deconstructing the internal mechanism and playing with the parts I whimsically reconstruct new meaning. The once-discarded piano plays on in a visual sonata.
