Group show at Twenty Six Gallery

17 Nov - 3 Dec 2023

Throughout the year, the artists of TheSeeHere exhibit individually within the confines of the 1m-wide space that is TheSeeHere window microgallery at 85 Ghuznee Street, Pōneke Wellington.

In 2022, as part of Aotearoa New Zealand Festival of The Arts, they spread their collective wings in the spirit of the whakataukī whiria te tāngata – weaving or binding the people together – to show work sharing a common thread in their group show: textile/adjacent, first at Backroom Gallery, Wakefield St, Pōneke Wellington, then at Kingsroy Gallery in Ngāmotu New Plymouth.

This year’s group venture has the members unfolding their work into the light and airy volume that is Newtown’s Twentysix Gallery.

H x W x D is a standard way of writing the dimensions of a three-dimensional object. The size of Twentysix Gallery gives the artists an opportunity to push into space with larger works, and with this comes a fourth dimension – negotiating the boundaries of a group show, and considering the interaction and experience of the viewer.
